DEFORESTATION

several factors including harvesting for timber and non timber forest products burning,clearing for plantation shifting cultivation for subsistence agriculture contribute to other underlying causes include inappropiate forest policies or poor enforcement of forest legislation,lack of knowledge of rights,insecurity and poverty


POVERTY

poverty is widely considered an underlying cause of deforestation. Other causes include low employment opportunities, a loss of potential cash income from forests, poor education attainment and illiteracy and poor knowledge of right.


CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION

As means of promoting community based adaptation to climate change in the rain forest and derived savanna zones, DIN is promoting alternative livelihood options and create awareness in communities. Other activities include as tree nursery/NTFE establishment and fuel efficient wood stove in order to reduce the rate of forest lost.


WATER HYGIENE & SANITATION

To ensure a healthy citizen by inproving access to water, hygiene & sanitation, DIN works with her local & international partners to provide water points and provide training on sanitation and hygiene practices to communities.


MOTHER & CHILD HEALTH

Malaria have been identified as one of the most deadly diseases expecially among pregnant women and children. This is further complicated by the cost of accessing quality health care services. DIN focuses it's efforts on malaria prevention strategies which are easily appreciable, cost effective & enveronmentally sustainable.


NUTRITION

Nutrition is very important for pregnant, lactating mothers and children. The necessity of a balance and nourishing diet for them can not be over emphasized. However, the prevailing poverty level in the community poses a threat to the acquisition of this important elements. DIN strives to create awareness on good Nutrition and also mainstreame these issues into it's care work programme
